NVIDIA now has an official partner for its netbook/nettop platform Ion. As expected it is system builder Acer that has announced a new nettop sporting the graphics card maker's Ion platform. Even if it has kicked out Intel's chipset it still relies on the chip giant's Atom processor. Acer has named the new budget PC AspireRevo, previously code-named Hornet, and the computer will operate using only a quarter of the power of an equivalent desktop while the performance will be up to ten times higher.

NVIDIA is of course talking about the graphics performance, compared to an equivalent system using Intel's integrated graphics circuit. Intel's Atom processor is not the fastest, but for a simple PC it is still "satisfactory". Together with Ion, AspireRevo will even be capable of playing High Definition video and more.

The price was not revealed, but will most likely be in the $300 range.
