Corsair has now launched a new SSD product that basically is built on the company’s SandForce-based Force 3-series SSD-units. Although, the manufacturer chooses to sell a completely new solution in an upgrade kit aimed for notebooks, complete with USB-adapter and migration software.
The Corsair Force Series 3 SSD Notebook Upgrade Kits should according to the storage manufacturer be so easy to use that even a monkey can do it. Although we may not be able to set us completely behind this statement, Corsair undoubtedly seems to have developed a convinient solution for those who wants to upgrade their notebooks with an SSD-unit.
The upgrade Kits is based on a SATA 6.0 Gbps capable Force SSD-unit that is being shipped with a SATA-to-USB cable plus a CD with software for transfering your current Windows installation to the new SSD-unit. Both the cable-adapter and the migration software comes from Apricorn and the manufacturer has posted a thorough guide on how a hard drive switch is done, everything from the moving of the data, to a physical installation of the new SSD-unit.
Corsair will be selling their Corsair Force Series 3 SSD Notebook Upgrade Kits in two different models, one with a 120GB SSD for $139.99 USD and one with a 240GB SSD for approximately $259.99 USD. Worth noticing is also that the Force 3-units that is used in the Kits arrives with a 7 mm-profile so that they also should be able to fit into most space-constrained notebooks.
