Dell XPS 13 presented a clean and stylish design of high quality, something the company will use with more models of the XPS series. Dell XPS 15 has been uncovered now and the first specifications has been set, including Full HD screen and discrete graphics card from NVIDIA.

Dell’s coming XPS series will bring a whole new design over previous models and its ultrabook XPS 13 was just a taste of what will come. The case of the coming XPS 15 will also use aluminum and carbon fiber, while the screen will be protected by the now famous ”Gorilla Glas” that is often used with handhelds, e.g. smartphones.

The specifications include a 15.6″ screen and we are guessing that Dell will market the computer as a ”small” 15.6″ model, probably not much larger than a regular 14″ model. The screen will sport 1920 x 1080 pixel resolution, which is a good sign of higher resolutions becoming more common. The thickness is 24.1 millimeter, while weight and exact measurements are still foggy.

The computer comes with a dual-core Core i5-3210M CPU with 35W TDP, but there is an option of a quad-core Core i7-3612QM that resides at the same TDP. For graphics there are two options; one with GeForce GT 630M and one with GT 640M that is based on the latest Kepler architecture from NVIDIA. The amount of RAM will be ”up to 16 GB”, but we assume 8 GB will be standard. Finally we have the storage where a 1 TB harddrive is default, or a 512 GB SSD – which will bump the price way up. The connectivity does not mention anything out of the ordinary – with USB 3.0, HDMI and Bluetooth 3.0.

The launch of Dell XPS 15 was not mentioned, but should be made official sometime during Q2, which ends on June 30th. Prices are due on the same day. We have heard rumors of a Dell XPS 14 with the same design, but we have no specifications to share there yet.
