The discussion of RAM has been heated as of late, something that is not that surprising considering the progress within CPUs and GPUs lately. This has merely increased the pressure on the RAM-manufacturers even more. The biggest problem is to get a good picture of what memory really is and how it works. At OCAddiction.com they have written an article that describes the most general when it comes to memory, and RAM in particular. The article brings topics such as memorybandwith, timings, dividers, DualDDR, Intel’s PAT-technology and memory compatibility problems.
The article in itself is rather basic, describing most of what one needs to know of RAM with mostly easily understandable comparisons without to much technical jargon.

“”What IS memory, and what does it do??” This is a typical question from someone who really never has opened their case, and just looks at the 512MB rating, or DDR 400 one that the ad that sold them on their current computer to determine that it’s good. I know that even more people than that don’t really know what it does, they just don’t ask. Well, here it is.”

This is a very well written article/guide that all interested in computers will have great use of.

You can find the whole article at OCAddiction.com.
