The copy protection for DVD-Video was cracked a couple of years ago and when the equivalent for audio recordings was released, DVD-Audio, they refused to use an updated version of CSS (CSS2) the protection used by DVD-Video. Instead they chose CPPM (Content Protection for Pre-recorded Media) which has withstood for a long time now. But as usual it was only a matter of time before the protection was cracked. There has namely appeared a patch for WinDVD that lets the user rip the music from the DVD-Audio to the harddrive. This is done by tricking the disc in believing the signal is being sent to the sound card.
