NVIDIA confirmed at the end of May that its first GeForce drivers for Windows 8 had been certified by Microsoft. While the official WHQL driver will take a while the company has instead released the first beta GeForce drivers – GeForce 302.80.

GeForce 302.80 is available for both 32-bit and 64-bit versions and support NVIDIA’s discrete GeForce graphics cards in Microsoft’s Windows 8 Release Preview. NVIDIA is planning an equivalent release for its notebook chips.

NVIDIA’s new GeForce R302 drivers support all functions of Microsoft’s new Windows Display Driver Model (WDDM v1.2), but also functionality like NVIDIA 3D Vision and 3DTV Play are ready for Windows 8. NVIDIA has also started a separate forum thread for comments and feedback on the new Windows 8 drivers, where you can share our experiences and possible bugs.

Also AMD has released beta drivers for Windows 8 Release Preview, which were certified by Microsoft in early June.
