Before the coming launch of AMD’s new FX series, code-named Vishera, sporting the new Piledriver architecture, AMD plans to phase out old models. AMD will take the last order for current FX processors in Q4.

The new processors in the FX-8300, FX-6300 and FX-4300 series are expected to perform better, be more efficient and cheaper to make. Therefore AMD will phase out current models fast. FX-8150, FX-8120, FX-6200, FX-6100, FX-4170, FX-4100 and other models will reach EOL status (End-of-life) in Q4 says  Fudzilla. This means manufacturers and distributors can order in for the last time for these models. Traditionally AMD ships the last processors two quarters after they go EOL, which means Q2 2013.

AMD is expected to launch top model FX-8350 with eight cores at 4 GHz and a Turbo frequency at 4.2 GHz in October this year, along with hexa-core FX-6300 and quad-core FX-4320. According to an analysis of the Trinity APU, based on the new Piledriver architecture, AMD has fixed many of teething problems Bulldozer had.
