MSI Wind has been one of the more popular netbooks, even though it has been a bit tricky to get a hold of on some markets. The delivery time has been long and the overall supply pretty poor, MSI has blamed the poor supply of Atom processors and there is little reason to doubt this since Atom is found in literally every netbook or nettop. Either way, the first model called MSI Wind U100 is being phased out from some of the smaller markets, going from three colors to only the white model with 160GB harddrive, but that is because a new model is coming.

MSI is preparing to launch the successor and at Fudzilla they’ve published a number of pictures of a model called U120. The base specifications are the same with 10″ display and an Atom processor hopefully available in larger quantities enabling a decent supply for the December launch.

Excerpt:
”According to what we know so far, the new U120 will feature either a 120GB hard drive or 20/40GB SSD which will come at a later date. Other specs should be similar to the older U100, as there are no changes to the CPU or other key features. The business side of the U120 will be in its connectivity, as this one should come with 802.11n Wi-Fi and built-in 3.5G modem that will accept a SIM card.”

The few changes are still interesting and if the price remains at the same level as with the previous models MSI might have a good product here. We seriously hope that the old 3 cell batteries will be replaced by the new and more powerful 6 cell batteries that MSI has started selling.
