Small preview imageATi Crossfire is expected to be presented during Computex tomorrow. Crossfire is ATi’s reply to nVidia SLI and earlier performance reports, bring out the extra large salt shaker for this one, states that Crossfire will in several tests offer better performance than nVidia’s SLI-technology. It also says that Crossfire will be supported by all games, which SLI doesn’t. Except for this they have over at The Inquirer been able to get their hands on a picture of an installed Crossfire system, where you can clearly see the cable used to connect the cards.

ATI Crossfire relies on one master and one slave in configuration. The latter can be be any X8xx-based card while the first must be a card made by ATI that goes by the name ”Crossfire edition”. The card has a special DVI port that is used to connect the ”link-cable” between the two cards. This system will not result in any loss of image quality but then again we have no evidence for any of this and how Crossfire actually performs remains to see. For now we have to suffice with a really nice picture of the system in action.
