Peltiers haven’t made much noise the last couple of years after having a real ”hot period” at the beginning of the new millenium. Watercooling and peltiers were for a long time the most extreme soluton available for overclockers but lately the use of peltiers is becomming less common. Watercooling is still around but the next step for many is phase change which usually results in better cooling than peltiers can possibly offer. Peltiers are a lot cheaper though than phase change. Wintsch Labs is a company that still believes in peltiers though.
At HardOCP they tested one of its combined waterblock/peltier-system called Arctic Web 437W. As the name implies this is a waterblock paired up with a powerful peltier element at a whopping 437W. We’re talking one mean peltier and at HardOCP they’ve tested how this kit handles by cooling a hot Pentium 4 Extreme Edition processor.
